Hello Everyone,
Over the last month, IBEW negotiators and a panel of your coworkers continued to meet with your employer, engaging in negotiations over your first contract. Traditionally, first contracts are more time laden than successor contracts, and this one is no different. Starting from blank sheets of paper, building language that will represent the needs of all who will be covered by it, takes time and attention to detail.
Once we have reached a tentative agreement with your employer, you will have the opportunity to ratify the agreement by voting on accepting the terms and conditions of your contract. Upon ratification of this new agreement, you will have the option of joining the IBEW.
A few issues have developed that we’d like to address in the hopes of clarity:
- New safety measures and access restrictions are soon to be implemented in the building. These changes were developed and implemented without input or solicitation from the IBEW. We have requested to meet with your employer regarding these changes as there are concerns about how this may have an impact on your ability to perform essential functions of your jobs.
- We understand that a new email service/inbox is being developed for your individual members. While quite a bit of speculation has been floating around regarding the origin and intent of this change, this was also implemented without input or solicitation from the IBEW.
