IBEW Local 89 and your employer are set to begin contract negotiations on December 7, 2021.Matthew Carroll, Business Manager of Local 89, and Kyle Abraham of Ogletree Deakins, will be the lead negotiators representing the IBEW and The Branch respectively. It has been almost six months since this bargaining unit was certified by the Oregon Employment Relations Board (ERB). The IBEW will proceed with focus and growing community support to secure a fair and equitable contract for the Oregon Legislative aides. “It is our hope that Kyle and his team will respect the rights of these employees and move in unison with the union towards a successful contract before the next legislative session begins” –Matt Carroll, Business Manager, Local 89. Your bargaining committee has drafted exceptional contract language that will soon be presented for negotiations. Through the surveys you’ve completed, and direct input from the bargaining committee of your peers, many issues have been identified. Issues of safety, workplace harassment, pay equity, compensation, a credible grievance process, layoff allowances, and an effective voice in all matters related to your conditions of employment will be addressed. As negotiations progress, additional communications and meetings will be established. Should you have any questions or need any assistance from a union representative, please don’t hesitate to call your Local 89 Union Hall, 360-755-6900 for assistance. |
